This policy explains how The Survival Shop ("we", "us") collects and uses your personal data when you visit https://somahaus.co.uk or buy from us. We are the data controller. Business address: Monkton, Prestwick, KA9 1UP, United Kingdom. Contact us via our contact page.

Data we collect

  • Order and contact details – name, billing and delivery address, email, phone number (if given).
  • Payment information – processed by our payment providers; we do not see or store your full card number.
  • Account details – if you create an account, your login and order history.
  • Communications – messages you send us.
  • Technical data – IP address, device and browser information, pages viewed, collected via cookies and similar technologies.
  • Age verification – for age-restricted products, confirmation that you are 18 or over.

How we use it and our lawful basis (UK GDPR)

  • To process, deliver and support your order, including returns – contract.
  • To meet legal obligations (e.g. tax records, age-restricted sales, consumer law) – legal obligation.
  • To prevent fraud, secure our website and improve our store – legitimate interests.
  • To send marketing emails, only where you have opted in – consent (unsubscribe any time via the link in each email).
  • Non-essential cookies – consent.

Who we share it with

We share data only as needed to run the store: our e-commerce platform Shopify, which acts as our data processor (see Shopify's privacy policy); payment providers; the businesses and delivery companies that pack and deliver your order (name, address and contact details only); IT and email service providers; and authorities where the law requires. We do not sell your personal data.

International transfers

Some providers (including Shopify) may process data outside the UK. Where they do, transfers are protected by UK adequacy regulations or approved safeguards such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to run the site (e.g. your basket and checkout). With your consent, we also use analytics and marketing cookies. You can accept, refuse or change your choices through the cookie banner and your browser settings. Refusing non-essential cookies will not stop you shopping with us.

How long we keep it

Order and transaction records are kept for six years for tax and accounting purposes. Marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe. Other data is kept only as long as needed for the purposes above.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to processing (including objecting to direct marketing at any time), to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To use these rights, contact us via our contact page. We will respond within one month.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, 0303 123 1113.

Children

Our store is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
